John Terelak, 59th Street Bridge
John Terelak, 59th Street Bridge, also known as the Queensboro Bridge, because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Street. It is officially known as the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. It is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City. It was completed in 1909. The total length including approaches is 7,449 ft. The bridge helped transformed Queens from a largely rural area to a bedroom and working community. A fine oil painting by Cape Ann Artist, John Terelak showing the working harbor. The smoke from the tugboats gives the painting an ethereal feeling. The reflection off the water is colorful and important to the painting. Unframed as seen.
